Blocking, reporting, and what we check

Block somebody and they are gone from your side of PitchMap: off your map, out of your lists and unable to message you. You can unblock later from the same place.

Reporting is different and can be done as well as blocking. A report reaches the moderation queue with the context attached, and somebody reads it.

If you feel unsafe, block first and report second. The block takes effect immediately; the report can wait the minute it takes.

There is one thing you should know without having to ask. We keep a short list of words associated with scams, harassment and illegal activity, and anything written on PitchMap is checked against it — posts, profiles, jobs, and yes, direct messages. It is a plain word match, not a person reading along and not an AI reading your conversations.

• A match records the matching phrase and a line or two around it — never the whole message.
• Nobody reads anything unless a match, or a report, puts it in front of them.
• Nothing else about the conversation is stored, and no other member ever sees any of it.

We would rather tell you this plainly than have you find out. If a network is going to check messages for the words that get people hurt, it owes you a straight sentence saying so.
