How matching works
A fixed formula over your tags, distance and activity — no AI, and nothing anyone can pay to change.
Matching is deterministic. The same inputs always produce the same answer, and nobody's position can be bought.
- What you are looking for, against what they are and what they offer.
- What they are looking for, against what you are and offer — weighted higher when both directions fit.
- Shared industry and tags, plus overlapping vocabulary in your written profiles.
- Distance, on a curve that scales with the radius you chose rather than a fixed number.
- Recency: someone active this week ranks above someone last seen in the spring.
People you are already connected to are pushed down rather than hidden. The highlight slots exist to show you somebody new.
No language model is involved anywhere in matching. It runs on every pan of the map, so it has to be instant, free and testable — and an answer nobody can explain is not one you should act on.
