How your location is set
It is detected from your device or connection — there is no box to type a hometown into, on purpose.
Your location is detected, not declared. When you allow the browser's location prompt we use that; otherwise we fall back to a rough area derived from your connection.
There is deliberately no “set my hometown” field. A network built on proximity only works if the proximity is real — the moment people can type any city they like, the map stops meaning anything.
If your pin is in the wrong place it is nearly always a denied location permission. Allow it in your browser's site settings and reload the page.
Travelling? That is what Travel Mode is for. Turning it off re-detects where you are and treats that as your new real location, so a permanent move is handled by simply arriving.
